We are looking for a talented Data Storyteller and Data Scientist to join our FinOps & Spend Analytics team at Snowflake. As a Senior Value Engineer, you will collaborate closely with our account teams and customers to craft compelling data-driven narratives that inform business decisions around renewals. You will deliver insights to our customer on performance and cost efficiencies of Snowflake, driven by product enhancements, optimizations executed by customers and Professional Services teams and how new Snowflake features are improving ROI for our customers. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills (SQL, Python, Excel, including Snowflake experience) and a proven track record in analytical problem-solving skills to address complex business questions. Familiarity with Snowflake architecture, as well as experience in performance optimization and cost management, will be advantageous.
- Analyze customer consumption metadata on the Snowflake platform to provide actionable insights for attributing, controlling, and optimizing spend by business unit, workload, and use case.
- Establish cloud unit economics and define KPIs to support cost, usage, and performance benchmarks by workload, use case, and customer type.
- Lead and facilitate engagements with account teams and customer on delivering insights on costs, performance, usage in a consultative manner
- Build and maintain ROI and economic models to support the rollout of new Snowflake features, enhancing customer budgeting, and forecasting Snowflake spend.
- Data Analysis & Benchmarking: Expertise in analyzing large datasets to extract meaningful insights, especially around cost, usage, and performance metrics. Experience in developing benchmarking frameworks to evaluate and compare different systems or performance metrics.
- Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in SQL for data querying, advanced Excel skills for data analysis, visualization, and reporting, and Python programming for data analysis (e.g. pandas). Familiarity with Snowflake architecture, performance optimization, and cost management is a plus.
- Data Storytelling: Proven ability to translate data insights into compelling narratives that drive business decisions, with strong verbal and written communication skills to present findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience: A minimum of 4-5 years of experience in data analysis, data science, or a related field, with specific experience in cloud data warehousing and benchmarking preferred. Experience in managing data projects from concept to delivery is essential.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, or a related discipline. Advanced degrees or certifications in data science or analytics are a plus.
