The Team

As part of the corporate level business support structure for Hitachi Digital LLC and its owned entities, the Director of Global Risk Management is responsible for maintaining the global insurance portfolio structure for all business facing insurance policies needed to protect people and assets, as well as support the businesses within the group of companies. The Director will partner with internal business teams to facilitate the setup of policies and processes for effective risk management, risk retention, and risk transfer, and coordinate program changes as needed to align insurance coverage with strategic initiatives within the Company. The Director will develop and maintain relationships with key global insurers and brokers, providing access to the appropriate markets suitable for the Company’s insurance portfolio needs.

The Role

  • Execute the annual renewal process for all policies in the portfolio by collecting data from multiple sources to complete applications, evaluate adequacy and scope of insurance coverage, and negotiate insurance coverage terms and pricing
  • Verify insurance coverage under issued policies conforms with negotiated terms and broker specifications for all insurance policies; provide ongoing maintenance of policy amendments, endorsements and correspondence
  • Negotiate annual Client Service Agreement with current insurance broker(s); direct services of insurance broker(s) on policy changes as applicable
  • Manage the COI (Certificate of Insurance) process supporting contractually obligated COIs for both inbound and outbound contracts
  • Develop, manage, and report on the annual spend budget and actuals for all insurance policy premiums in the portfolio; this includes validating premiums for local in-country policies as well as establishing the necessary purchase requisitions and corresponding POs as needed for premiums paid from the US
  • Coordinating with Business Continuity Management (BCM), be a participating member of all three Regional Incident Management Teams (IMT); AMER, APAC, and EMEA
  • With Legal, establish appropriate standard contract template language to ensure the optimal degree of contractual risk transfer in both inbound and outbound contracts; as needed, as part of active contact and/or agreement negotiations with counterparties, review insurance language to ensure Company compliance and appropriate balance and transfer of risk for the individual contract or agreement under review
  • Work with internal business partners, including but not limited to, REWS (Facilities), BCM, Cybersecurity and CISO (Chief Information Security Officer), Legal and Compliance, Human Resources, GPS, and Procurement and Supply Chain, on evaluating loss control and prevention measures, employee safety issues, and coordinate the process for reporting, managing, and settling Claims for their relevant insurance policies
  • In support of the Global Protective Services (GPS) Risk Rated Level 3 Trip Approval process, provide Global Risk review and approval of employee travel as needed
  • With HR Shared Service Support Team. Manage the ERGO healthy relationship which provides remote ergonomic evaluations to employees globally
  • Maintain Global Risk Management site on Company intranet to provide a resource on managing multiple disciplines of risk to Company personnel

What You’ll Bring

  • 10+ years of prior risk management experience overseeing global corporate risk management program from practitioner or broker perspective
  • Minimum BA/BS degree required; Associate in Risk Management certification (ARM) preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint & Excel)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to present complex concepts when collaborating with internal and external business partners
  • Ability to evaluate and apply use cases for industry-related technology solutions
  • Self-starter willing to drive innovative thinking
