POSITION SUMMARY
As Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for processing accurate and timely payrolls for the company, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. You’ll also collaborate with the finance and HR teams to maintain payroll accuracy, resolve payroll issues, and enhance processes as needed. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Processing payroll changes, adjustments, reimbursements, and employee deductions.
Reviewing and verifying payroll data for completeness and accuracy.
Processing and paying 401k contributions.
Allocating and creating journal entries for all payroll-related transactions: This includes but is not limited to payroll, taxes, benefits, 401k, insurance, employee recognition rewards, garnishments, and other third-party vendors that are related to payroll and benefits processing.
Assisting the Finance team with miscellaneous tasks as needed, for example, processing and allocating expense reimbursements.
Assisting with payroll-related reporting and audits.
Addressing and resolving employee questions about payroll matters.
Ensuring compliance with all payroll tax laws and regulations. This includes the set up of state and international payroll and related requirements.
Assisting in year-end reporting and reconciliations.
Identifying opportunities to streamline and improve payroll processes.
NEEDED TO SUCCEED
Successful candidates will have:
An understanding of payroll compliance and exceptional attention to detail.
Strong problem-solving skills.
Familiarity with payroll software (Rippling) and a willingness to learn new tools quickly.
Knowledge/experience with Intacct or other similar accounting software.
The ability to be adaptable and flexible in a fast-paced startup environment.
Great verbal and written communication skills.
A friendly, collaborative, humble, honest, and always striving to be better attitude.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
Proven work experience as a Payroll Specialist, Payroll Administrator, or in a similar role.
Experience processing payroll for a fully remote company with employees and contractors around the world.
