Job Description
Docker is a remote first company with employees across Europe, APAC and the Americas that simplifies the lives of developers who are making world-changing apps. We raised our Series C funding in March 2022 for $105M at a $2.1B valuation. We continued to see exponential revenue growth last year. Join us for a whale of a ride!
We’re seeking an experienced technical Product Marketing Manager for our Build products. Docker’s products help developers bring their ideas to life by delivering an experience that simplifies and accelerates the complexities of building and shipping applications. This role is for a senior product marketer who understands the B2B SaaS technology buyer and ideally has a mix of marketing to developers and IT buyers.
Who you’ll be working with:
You’ll be part of the Product Marketing team, reporting to the Sr. Principal Product Marketing Manager for the Build product line. In addition to your marketing partners, you’ll work closely with product management, engineering, research, RevOps, and sales teams across the company.
Key Responsibilities:
Partner with Product, Demand Gen, and Sales to craft impactful messaging tailored to Docker’s personas.
Craft credible stories that resonate with buyers and users of Docker. We support three distinct GTM motions: Self-Service, Product-Led Growth, and Sales-led growth.
Own the development of marketing and sales collateral. Manage internal and external resources to create these assets.
Create thought leadership content that supports awareness and top-of-funnel conversion, and execute with the assistance of the Product and content marketing team.
Partner with sales enablement and product management to deliver sales training and enablement on the product and releases.
Develop customer-facing training with assistance from customer success and product teams.
Use research and customer insights to help shape future product development.
Find and support customer stories and case study creation.
Attributes we look for:
Strategic thinking: The ability to develop and execute go-to-market strategies that align with business objectives and priorities.
Technical focus: A strong understanding of the products and technologies that you take to market, including their capabilities, limitations, and potential applications.
Customer obsession: A deep empathy for customers and a passion for understanding their needs, behaviors, and motivations.
Data-driven decision-making: The ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make informed decisions that drive business outcomes.
Collaboration: The ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including engineering, design, sales, and marketing.
Communication skills: The ability to articulate complex technical information clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Adaptability: The ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities, business needs, and market conditions.
Creativity: The ability to generate innovative ideas and approaches that drive business success.
Storytelling skills: The ability to craft compelling narratives that bring the product to life and resonate with customers and stakeholders.
Integrity: A strong moral compass and a commitment to ethical decision-making and business practices.
Qualifications:
5+ years experience in product marketing dev tools, B2B SaaS, cloud service, and/or open-source freemium models
Experience managing product messaging and positioning, developing collateral, sales training, and new product launches
You have done and can do these things:
Learned a new product, customers, and market quickly
Work cross-functionally and build trust with both engineering and sales
Excel at working collaboratively
Manage your priorities and requests. You have high standards, but you’re still able to move fast
Strong storytelling and writing skills to showcase product benefits and keep the attention of different buyer personas
Effective communication skills–you can adjust how you communicate depending on who you are speaking with and what you need to say
Write up findings and present them to your internal stakeholders so they know what they need to know and have clear direction to make decisions
Preferred / Nice-to-have:
Experience marketing developer tools to developers in authentic ways.
Love for and success in a fast-growth scale-up environment characterized by controlled chaos (sometimes characterized as: imperfect information, quickly-changing user markets, and limited structure)
Also Note: If this job interests you, but you aren’t sure you meet all the requirements, apply anyway–we value different perspectives and experiences.
In the first 30 days, you will:
Meet the team, start learning Docker’s products
Observe – get to know our customers, product launch process, and ways of working together
Orient to current target markets/personas, current product direction, and resulting metrics
Build relationships across the organization
Compile early observations about areas for experimentation and iteration
Within 90 days, you will:
Build strong cross-functional partnerships, including effective working relationships with engineering, design, sales, and customer success teams, to align marketing strategies with business objectives and priorities.
Own and execute a feature or campaign launch
What to expect in the first year:
Define and execute go-to-market strategies for new products or features. By this stage, you will have developed and implemented successful launch plans for new products or features, including messaging, positioning, and pricing strategies.
Demonstrate data-driven decision-making: By this point, you will have used data and analytics to inform marketing strategies, measure campaign effectiveness, and optimize performance over time.
