About the role
The Sr Analytics Engineer role helps us strengthen the data-driven culture in the company, integrating multiple heterogeneous data sources and working in close collaboration with our Analytics team to provide them with reliable, high-quality data sets and ensure that they have the tools and resources they need to derive meaningful insights from data.
- Work with the data engineering team to build data processing pipelines on the Fortis Data Platform
- Partner with Analytics to design, build and maintain data models in response to end customer needs
- Examine, deconstruct and deep dive into large, unstructured datasets in order to identify useful and relevant information
- Build and optimise data structures that underpin our Analytical dashboards to ensure optimal performance, timeliness and quality of information provided to stakeholders
Required qualifications
- Expert in Python: familiarity with using APIs to obtain 3rd party data, and for data manipulation and enrichment
- SQL Expert: Aggregate and window functions, joins and CTEs
- Experience with columnar database platforms
- Database design best practices: understand how to structure datasets for optimal performance
- Demonstrated ability to maintain high standards of data quality, accuracy and completeness
- Version control and collaboration using github
- Advanced English, written and spoken
- Strongly preferred: Experience with Kafka, Hadoop, and Spark
- Strongly preferred: Working with large datasets on a database platform, including normalization and denormalization
- Strongly preferred: Experience with AWS services like S3, Glacier, Kinesis, and Redshift
- Strongly preferred: Familiarity with Clickhouse and Looker
